Lindsay Lohan Bares All in Steamy Photo Shoot

Even though most of my writing is about advertising, marketing, sales, promotions and business in general, I find once in a while I must take a break from that and write about some hot topics in the news today.

Currently one the hottest topics in the news today is Lindsay Lohan`s steamy (well steamy if you think she is attractive) pictures ala Monroe-esque.

According the NNDB, "At three, Lindsay Lohan was a working model. As a kid she appeared in ads for dozens of products from Pizza Hut to the Gap, and co-starred with Bill Cosby in a Jell-O commercial. At six, she was one of the trick-or-treaters who rang David Letterman`s doorbell on a Halloween Late Show. Her costume was made from garbage allegedly found on the D-train, and Letterman gave her a garden hose. At ten, Lohan was a semi-regular on the soap opera Another World, as Alexandra "Ally" Fowler. The following year, she made her motion picture debut as twins in Disney`s 1998 remake of The Parent Trap with Dennis Quaid."

She was very busy and on her way to be being an even bigger star until all the drugs, alcohol, partying and wild life style hit. Lohan entered the Cirque Lodge alcohol rehab in Sundance, Utah following her second drunk-driving arrest in three months in July 2007. This is the third rehab facility Lohan has checked into this year after stints at Wonderland and Promises in California.

But what has kept her in the news as of late is her naked pictures where she is depicting a somewhat re-enactment of Madelyn Monroe`s photos from many years ago.

According to Lycos, "Lindsay`s latest publicity move mimicking Marilyn Monroe`s 1962 final photo shoot, she created quite an online buzz. In New York Magazine`s current Spring Fashion issue, Lindsay bares it all, well most of it. Photograpger Bert Stern, who also photographed Marilyn Monroes`s original Vogue shoot, says he chose Lohan because he suspected Lindsay "had a lot more depth" than some give her credit for. Lohan, is apparently a big fan of the 1950s icon, she owns an apartment where Marilyn once lived and has a huge painting of the famous blonde bombshell."

Lindsay Lohan, the oldest of three siblings, was born in The Bronx and grew up in Cold Spring Harbor on Long Island in New York. Daughter of Michael Douglas Lohan Sr., and Donata "Dina" Sullivan. All of Lindsay`s three younger siblings, are budding actors: brother Michael Jr., appeared as the "Lost Boy at Camp" in her movie The Parent Trap (1998); sister Aliana had a small role in Lindsay`s 2003 movie Freaky Friday...as did brother Dakota (Cody). Lindsay claims she has a superb relationship with her brothers and sister.

After releasing her steamy photos who knows what is next for the young actress, but one thing for sure, if she wants to get more press, it may have to be something bigger and more dramatic then taking off her clothes.

1. Asymmetrical bangs: Starts at brow level and goes longer on one side. This gives a soft and sexy look. Celebrities wearing asymmetrical bangs are Carmen Electra, Nicole Ritchie and Lindsay Lohan.

2. Square, blunt bangs: Compliments cuts below the chin. This gives a strong, edgy look and is more suited to people with strong jaw lines or a square face, such as Nelly Furtado.

3. Rounded, highly textured bangs: Great for diamond-shaped faces, such as Sandra Bullock.

Montoya also recommends headbands for all hairstyles. "Headbands are very in right now," he says. "They should be worn in a retro style, a throwback to the 60s, with a bump on the crown and long ponytail, or slicked back hair with a thin band. Headbands should always be worn on the high point of the head. Scarves as headbands are also in." Or, for a hot summer style Montoya says to try a full scarf for a bohemian look, which is light and easy for hot summer days. Look at Nicole Ritchie or Paris Hilton as examples for this look.

Having bangs means more hair maintenance (but what's a little work for a great look?) "After getting a cut, you need to use good products to build texture, shine and hold," says Montoya who recommends the bumble & bumble line of products.

Top 8 Celebrity Sunglasses Exposed! - What Are the 'True' Favorite Brands of the Stars?

According to the data gathered over a three month period from Sept 07 to Nov 07, the most popular sunglasses worn by today's leading celebrities include, in order of 'sighting volume' were Ray-Ban, Oakley, Dior, Gucci, Oliver Peoples, Tom Ford, Prada and Chrome Hearts.

Over this period 154 celebrities were tracked wearing 51 brands of sunglasses in dozens of models. Repeated occurrences of one celebrity wearing the same glasses were not included in the results.

For the data driven among you, Ray-Ban with 35 celebrity sightings outpaced their nearest competitors by almost 2 to 1, with Oakley and Dior showing up on 20 celebrities each. No wonder Oakley bought Ray-Ban! A detailed grid of the results is shown below.

The stragglers were Gucci with 18 sightings, Oliver Peoples - 17, Tom Ford - 15, Prada - 12 and Chrome Hearts came in last at 10 sightings.

Considering the average cost of these individual brands (at least for this review) these numbers are not surprising. The average price for a pair of celebrity Ray-Ban's is about $120. The Chrome Hearts sunglasses are a little steeper, averaging $500 a pair.

The cost of these sunglasses varied from a low of $50, seen on Britney Spears sporting a pair of convenience store sunglasses (Anthropologie's Glamorama) to the most outrageously expensive pair from Nefarious called Auric, flaunted by the ubiquitous Lindsay Lohan with a slightly higher price tag of $30,000.

As many consumers tend to buy what their idols and icons are wearing, supposedly in hopes of recreating the 'A list' effect, it is interesting to find that the average pair of celebrity sunglasses doesn't cost nearly as much as you might think.

Although market research in the U.S. places the average pair of sunglasses for both men and women in the under $30 range, men actually spending somewhat more than women, a huge consumer market exists for higher end sunglasses and there are dozens of players vying for their piece of this enormous multi-billion dollar market. Why else would Luxottica pay $2.1 billion for the purchase of Oakley?

So what does it really cost to look like your favorite celebrity? Throwing out the low and high end sunglasses mentioned above, the average retail price of pair of sunglasses as seen on America's most famous celebrities was actually only $269.

Now for most folks from the heartland that is a tidy sum to be plunking down in the hopes that someone will mistake them for Britney, Jessica, Lindsay, Angelina or Brad.

But considering this youth oriented culture has tens of millions of youth oriented consumers (including those aging baby-boomers from the sixties and seventies) who shell out hundreds, even thousands of dollars for brand name blue jeans, sneakers, t-shirts and jackets, not to mention alcohol and sports drinks, make-up, jewelry and handbags, the above price tag looks almost reasonable.

So if everyone will just Digg into your piggy banks and look under the sofa cushions and scrape together about $300 (don't forget the sales tax) we can all toddle on down the our local Sunglass Hut and spring for another pair of celebrity sunglasses to replace the ones you sat on last week.

A Man's 5 Basic Tendencies

But, alas, women it is not to be. Here is where your dream world begins to fall apart.

Just as a man has 5 fingers on his right hand there are 5 creative tendencies a man must overcome to live out his life.

1) He believes he is indestructible. I know this is not rational, is silly and difficult to believe, however, it is tied to his ego and allows him to also do the five jobs his analytical mind tells him he must do.

It is because a man can be an extremely competitive creature that he can put his life on the line for his family when defending them and protecting them.

A man, especially when he is younger, can be exciting, dangerous and foolish. He will buy his dream sports car and drive it down the freeway as fast as he can to see how fast he can go, and sometimes with his loved ones in the car.

He will dive off of a 50-foot cliff to see if he can meet the water in the 10-foot space between the rocks below. Sometimes he will accomplish that feat, sometimes he will become paralyzed and sometimes he will kill himself in a fit of bravado.

Generally, somewhere around age 40 or 50 he will work in the yard all day Saturday and be totally stunned when he cannot get out of bed Sunday morning. This is the point in his life when he realizes he is not the man he used to be.

If he uses the brains God gave him he will not continue take risky chances. If he has learned anything from the experience, he will begin to live a more sane life.

2) He believes his reach should exceed his grasp. A man will try to do more than he is physically, mentally and emotionally capable of doing. He will set impossible goals and then prove he cannot achieve them.

He will set no limits on himself. He has an ego. He will work himself to death while ignoring his marriage, his children and the needs of his family, and he will justify this behavior because he can barely get past his third job: provide for his family.

He will justify his behavior in his mind because sometimes he is really escaping a situation at home that he does not want to face. Rather than face the music he is willing to play the music alone and suffer the consequences, generally divorce.

Couples can fight about money and how to raise their children, but when they end up in divorce court it is usually because of a lack of communication. How many times have you heard a woman say he just won't talk to me?

When your man is not talking to you ladies, that is the first sign that your marriage is in trouble.

3) He believes he will live forever. No kidding. He actually believes he will live forever. It never really occurs to him that he will die someday. He has been told this more than once; he comprehends what is being said, but he really does not believe it.

Women do not share this problem. I expect because they become very aware of just how fragile life is when birthing a newborn.

It generally does not even occur to a man that he will die until he is well past 50. When this realization strikes him, it is like a bolt of lighting. Sometimes it occurs when his father dies, and then he realizes that he is next.

There are things that you will notice when his belief in this matter changes.

He will not leave home when the guys come by to go drinking and watch the game. He will become more aware about who he is with, where he is at and what he is doing. He now realizes that the meter on the taxi is running. He now understands that the alarm has been set on his clock, and it is ticking down.

4) Someone once said that every man needs someplace to go, something to do and someone to love. I believe that they are correct. Think about it.

A man needs someplace to go, this is the explorer in him. A man needs something to do, this is the automatic work ethic in him. He must be at work, or he could be a nuisance at home. A man needs someone to love because he needs acceptance.

You will notice that a woman who loses her husband at age 50 because he has worked himself to death can live another 30 years without a man in her life and be quite content. A man who loses his wife at age 50 will find another woman very soon or he will die, literally.

When a man loses his partner, he will make it his business to find another, and he will not make a career out of it because he already has a career. A man loses his woman and six months or a year later he marries again, usually to someone younger.

Many men do not wait to lose their wife. When they perceive they have lost something in a relationship, they simply dump their wife and find a younger model. I do not have to give women names; they can name on cue the men who have done so, both the famous and the infamous.

5) This is the most salient advice that I can give a woman about men: Listen carefully to what a man says but watch what he does, what he does is who he is. A man will always whisper sweet nothings in a woman's ear but once he is out of bed he barely notices his conquest.

In today's world young girls and young women have bought into the media hype that they need to walk around half naked and sleep with any guy if they want to date or have any shot at a relationship. They are being hoodwinked.

Our culture and society has become so liberal, so permissive, so pleasure seeking and so self-centered and self-absorbed that the mantra is all about me. Young girls have Paris Hilton, Britany Spears and Lindsay Lohan as role models.

What young girls and young women need to know is that after young boys and young men have had their way with them they will discard them like they would a hot dog wrapper at a baseball game.

When these same young boys become young men and think about marriage they will not be interested in used goods. Any girl or young woman who has been passed around and has slept with multiple partners will get less attention.

A man who is worth marrying and having children with has learned impulse control and has the ability to feel an urge and delay acting on it. A man who cannot or will not control himself is no better than the girls and young women he is indiscriminately sleeping with.

Someone arbitrarily decided that casual sex does no damage whatsoever to one's psyche or emotional well being. They are, of course, dead wrong but too immature to realize it and calculate the damage.

Oftentimes when they grow up they are unable to have a lasting relationship and they wonder why. This is true for both men and women. I do not have to postulate about this, the divorce rate, heartache and failed relationships prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt.

If the fundamental basis of a marriage is great sex, you have a serious problem that is not going to go away. Marriage should be for a long time and great sex at some point may not survive the duties and responsibilities of living.

Lindsay Lohan May Open Drunk Driving School

In the wake of being arrested for DUI on a second occasion, Lindsay Lohan has reportedly announced, "I think that two arrests qualify me as an expert. So I may use my experience and open a drunk driving school."

"What will you teach?" a reporter asked.

"Oh, really important skills, like how to drive when you feel really drunk and can't quite seem to keep the car in the center of the road, what to do if you head the wrong way down a one-way street without knowing it, and how to react if you accidentally run over somebody. Things like that, which ordinary driving schools just leave out."

"But what about getting people to stop drinking and driving?"

"Yes, we'll have a course on that and it should prove really interesting, since I can't figure out how to do it myself. Obviously, I don't have any idea how to teach people how to avoid getting arrested. So that part of the course should elicit a lot of give a take. My really important goal is to help people get home safe, or at least without getting arrested. I'm kind of vague about those things myself, too, but I'm always willing to give a good idea a shot."

Lohan's legal counsel is rumored to be looking into applying for a license for the institution, but the lawyers face a multitude of difficulties, such as the inconvenient fact that the state of California has yet to establish a licensing agency for the category.

Drug Rehab And 2007 - The Year Of Celebrity And Media Excess

Well, here we are in 2008, and it's time to reflect on the year gone by. What's the first thing we recall from 2007? The war in Iraq? The mid-west floods? The California wild-fires? Al Gore's global-warming peace prize?

For many Americans what pops into mind first and foremost are the strangely-fascinating excesses of the year's celebrity bad girls and their insatiable appetites for alcohol, illicit drugs, arrests and DUIs, jail time and trips to drug rehab.

2007 was definitely the year that the girls gone wild made drug rehab a household word. Not that they all wound up in rehab: Of the Hollywood girls gone wild - Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie and Britney Spears - Paris and Nicole managed to avoid it. They only had to go to jail.

The UK's wild-child, blues singer Amy Winehouse, who had a major hit about refusing to go to rehab, nevertheless spent a month in drug rehab last summer. But according to friends and family she's going to go back into treatment sometime soon. Judging from media reports, it can't be soon enough.

It's a wonder some of these ladies managed to survive at all, never mind save what's left of their careers. Endlessly partying like sailors on shore leave and logging arrests for DUI and possession of drugs, they were either in or out of rehab or jail so many times it set our heads spinning.

Thanks to relentless paparazzi, we had plenty of creepily entertaining shots of drugged, drunken, bleary-eyed, carousing, panty-less, filthy rich young women bent on self-destruction. But while we're watching this destruction on TV and reading about it in magazines and tabloids, we might want to keep something else in mind: One in five Americans has, is, or soon will be in trouble with alcohol or some type of drug.

As there are no paparazzi recording it for the media, we tend to miss it. And these millions of addicted Americans don't have personal managers or studio moguls to back them up, millions of fans offering unqualified support, or mega-bucks to cover months of drug rehab in some sexy Malibu drug rehab center.

Fortunately, while alcohol and drug addiction and personal self-destruction are happening all around us, so is rehab. There is an alcohol or drug rehab program in almost every town and city in America. And every day, addicted people beat their addictions and get their lives back.

This year, let's put our attention on what's happening at home and in our own neighborhoods. Love Quotes Scarves hit the big time last winter when it was seen slung stylishly around the neck of just about every fashionista in Hollywood. Who exactly wore them? Thankfully it's been replaced by Ale, which is a similar shade of beige. Also joining the ranks is Maritime, a dark navy blue which looks great with red, pink and denim. Deep teal is yet another dark color that's perfect for the fall. And there's also charcoal, a dark shade of gray that is a must have, considering gray is a popular color once again this year and it will contrast well with black and white outfits.

My personal favorite Love Quotes scarf this season, aside from Cobalt blue, is Bordeaux. This is a deep shade of crimson which is absolutely gorgeous, and will also look great up against casual black and white outfits as well as jeans. This shade is destined to be a hot one, and I'm sure we'll see a celebrity or two out and about with it.

Just a warning though, buying Love Quotes scarves is addictive! Once you buy one, you'll want one in every single color, and why not when they complete just about any outfit. Be sure to pick up at least two new Love Quotes Scarves; one in a classic color and another in a new one.

Sex and the City Movie Premiere

The Sex and the City New York City movie premiere was held on Tuesday, May 27th at Radio City Music Hall. Anyone who is anyone hit the red carpets to view the premiere and then mingle with the socialites at the Rockefeller Center after-party. The party was supposed to be at the MoMa, but apparently it wasn't big enough. Seriously, how is a museum not big enough!? But anyways, that's how big this event was in the lives of so many Manhattan higher-ups.

Seeing that the Sex and the City movie's main focal point is fashion -- and brought designers and fashionista-wanna-be's by the droves to the theaters -- everyone's eye was (obviously) on Sarah Jessica Parker at the premiere. People were dying to see what she would wear. So imagine her surprise when she found out that her beautiful Nina Ricci gown was worn not once, but twice before! Some may say that Sarah Jessica Parker reacted snobbishly, but I highly disagree. When you are viewed as a fashion icon, and all eyes are constantly on you to see what you are going to wear, it is not cool to be wearing a third-hand dress.

Apparently, SJP was assured by the gown's designer, Olivier Theyskens, that the dress had never been worn. In truth, it had been photographed on socialite Lauren Santo Domingo at the Metropolitan Museum ball gala in New York City less than a month earlier, and was also worn by Lindsay Lohan for a photo shoot in Los Angeles last winter. I fully support Ms. Parker for being just a teensy bit upset.

In all the mayhem I did notice one very glorious thing about Sarah Jessica's ensemble at the NYC premiere -- the necklaces! At her neck, SJP wore three antique necklaces by Fred Leighton -- a 19th-century diamond riviere necklace, a 19th-century diamond and pearl fringe necklace and a 19th-century gold diamond snake necklace. You might not be able to find such vintage pieces at your local boutique, seeing as this jewelry is owned by the American Folk Art Museum, but you can bet that the ever-popular layered look will continue to be a trend and that fringe-style gold necklaces will soon be seen hitting the streets!

Ah, celebrities and drug use. It seems that every time we turn on the television or watch the news or read the latest tabloid, there is at least one celebrity (if not more) who is entering into or just getting out of some sort of drug rehab facility or drug treatment center. We saw this (and continue to see it) happen to singer, songwriter, Amy Winehouse. Is it just me or does it seem as if celebrities don't care about their image?

Contrary to popular belief, the life of a celebrity isn't all fun and games. It is a life that is often filled with gruesome schedules, all nighters, back to back traveling, photo shoots, plane flights across the country and constant attention in the spotlight. After a while, all of the pressures that so many celebrities face begins to wear thin. Maybe celebrities should get more sleep. One thing is for sure; money cannot buy you happiness...but it sure can buy you drugs along with whatever other material things tickle your fancy.

So, then why is it that so many celebrities can't seem to get it together? Perhaps this will remain a mystery. Maybe they spend a little too much time in character.
